Great Lakes Center for the Arts
Mission Statement
To inspire, entertain, educate, and serve all in Northern Michigan, year-round, by presenting exceptional experiences across the full spectrum of the performing arts and offering impactful educational opportunitiesÂ
Why Donate to Great Lakes Center for the Arts?
Serving one of the most beautiful, but remotely located regions of the country, Northern Michigan’s Great Lakes Center for the Arts connects people through the inspiring power of the performing arts.
Entertaining visitors from around the world as well as its year-round, hometown community, the Center presents the best of Broadway, jazz, country, classical, dance, theater, and much more, with donations helping to lower ticket prices and increase access for all. These same donations provide free educational performances for thousands of Northern Michigan students — experiences which broaden horizons and enliven lessons in history, cross-cultural awareness, science, literature, and arts. Donations also support the Center’s Dorothy Gerber Strings Program empowering youth with free classes in violin, viola, cello, and bass in collaboration with area schools to ensure any child who wants to learn to play an instrument may do so, regardless of income.
The arts are a transformative power, linking communities, increasing understanding, and creating connections between urban and rural, big city and small town. A gift to the Center spreads the joy and inspiration of the performing arts to neighbors, near and far!Â
